ST EDMUNDSBURY CATHEDRAL LAUNCHES LEGO NATIVITY COMPETITION!

St Edmundsbury Cathedral is inviting individuals and local to take part in a special LEGO Nativity Competition this Christmas.

To take part all you have to do is create your own version of the Nativity scene and bring it in to the Cathedral from 28 November onwards.  Entries close at 5pm, 18th December.

Children can keep it traditional or bring it right up to date by incorporating their favourite LEGO characters from Star Wars, Minecraft or Friends.

Local businesses are encouraged to take part as a fun and inspirational team building activity, the perfect way to bond… over LEGO and a cup of coffee!

The following categories are available:

Prize: Limited edition LEGO model of St Edmundsbury Cathedral (RRP £35)

  • Under 12s - £5 entry fee

Prize: Collector’s limited edition LEGO St Edmundsbury Cathedral (RRP £150)

The entry fee proceeds for the competition will go towards St Edmundsbury Cathedral’s youth outreach project which is the focus of fund-raising from the LEGO project to build a model of the Cathedral out of 200,000 LEGO bricks.

If you cannot come into the Cathedral to drop off your Nativity scene, please head to Twitter (@Stedscathlego) or Instagram (@stedscath) and upload a picture of your Nativity scene using the hashtag #stedscathlego.  You can also post your photo on @Stedscathlego Facebook page too.  Five winners will be picked from online entries, who will receive a St Edmundsbury Cathedral LEGO t-shirt.

Cathedral Administrator and Director of Commerce Tony Kimber said: “Our Nativity scene competition is perfect for all ages and abilities.

“We’re encouraging everyone to have a go and roll back their sleeves, from traditional right through to modern day interpretations, we think this will really capture everyone’s imaginations. We can’t wait to see what children and adults can create.”
